Holy Ghost Disharmony

Holy Ghost Disharmony
What is the solution to lethargy and neglect in the Spirit? I’m asking myself, what does that even mean? As a Spirit filled Christian I believe that I’m to abide, walk, talk, live, etc. in and by the Spirit of God. So why do I find myself to often, waning in this area of my Christian life. Neglecting my time with God, and His Word, and Worshiping and Praising Him? Done too often, this can also bring about disharmony, a glitch, so to speak in my connection with hearing what the Holy Spirit is trying to get through to me.

I woke up this morning with a phrase in my spirit and mind.

“Responsiveness to, by, and in My Spirit is where I want you today and everyday!”

Many times during my day, the Holy Spirit will attempt to draw me to spend time with Him. I will feel His unctioning to draw closer to Him. I will always stop what I’m doing and enjoy soaking in His Presence for a few minutes, but then allow myself to get sidetracked with daily stuff. I do this with my Sweet William, aka: my husband Bill… he will want me to stop what I’m doing and spend some “quality” time with him. Most of the time what I’m doing can wait til later. But I just want to finish it.

I sometimes do this with the Lord. He draws me by His Spirit and I put Him off til later…but when later comes at my convenience….the moment that God was ready to do something awesome has past.

Responsiveness to the Spirit of God is vital to our spiritual walk. He is drawing us to Himself, because he wants to bless us with a word, or to give us much-needed strength, or to just encourage us. Sometimes He desires to actually make a big change in us for the better, or correct a flaw. God has you Marked for change… BIG change! If we know that is true, why do we neglect to submit to his drawing us away?

Remembering the song, From Glory to Glory He’s changing me…from earthly things to the heavenly…. I love this song!!!!! This is how I really see how God’s Spirit is working in our lives.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 ….says the Holy Spirit is, “the Spirit of the Lord” and even the Lord Himself. For, (…the Lord is that Spirit) and as we encounter and respond to God’s Spirit we are profoundly changed by God’s manifested glory and excellence. (paraphrased)

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom). [Isaiah. 61:1, 2.] And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.

God’s glory is His manifested excellence in us!

Isaiah 61:1-3 THE SPIRIT of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to preach the Gospel of good tidings to the meek, the poor, and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up and heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the [physical and spiritual] captives and the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound, To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord [the year of His favor] and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, To grant [consolation and joy] to those who mourn in Zion–to give them an ornament (a garland or diadem) of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, and failing spirit–that they may be called oaks of righteousness [lofty, strong, and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness, justice, and right standing with God], the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

The choice is ours to make… yield promptly to the unctioning and calling us away to let the glory of God through and by His magnificent Holy Spirit Hover over us and infuse us with His Life Changing power, His might, His anointing, His love, His comforting, His soul changing, thus life changing transformation. Why do we neglect such a great salvation.

I say, Yes, Lord, here am I, yielding to Your Spirit…

BTW: Do You Know Him, My Savior? He wants to come into your heart and begin these works of excellence in your life, too. Choose Him today…He has already chosen you.

Will The Real Me Please Stand Up

Will The Real Me Please Stand Up

Have you ever had a time in your life that you ask yourself, “Just who am I really? Will the real me please stand up?” I recently had one of those days. I looked in the mirror and thought, “Who am I really”? I don’t even know who I am or where I’m going. People may ask, who are you? I answer, Sharon Middleton. They say, but who “are” you? Who is the “REAL” you? What do you answer to this question? Who am I really? The correct answer is NOT… I’m a girlfriend, wife, mom, grandma, daughter, sister, friend, female, Christian. I’m kind, generous, non-conformist, the list can go on and on. But these descriptive words are “what” you are, not who you are? And for the most part, what you are to others. That’s who I am to others, but who am I to me?? So who is the real me? We’ve all heard people say, “Oh, she’s just trying to find herself”. How in the world do we find ourselves?

Read a statement below on this subject:

Ideal Self: The personality is composed of the Real Self and the Ideal Self. Your Real Self is who you actually are, while your Ideal Self is the person you want to be.

The Ideal Self is an idealized version of yourself created out of what you have learned from your life experiences, the demands of society, and what you admire in your role models.

For example, your parents are medical doctors who are respected and admired in the community, and experience tells you that in order to be happy, you need to be smart and have a high-paying job. Your Ideal Self might be someone who excels in science subjects, spends a lot of time studying, and does not get queasy at the sight of blood. If your Real Self is far from this idealized image, then you might feel dissatisfied with your life and consider yourself a failure.
Psychologist Carl Rogers

Have we truly lost sight of who we are? When I looked in the mirror this morning, I tried to really look into my heart. I stood there thinking about the things I’ve accomplished in my life, and the things left to do. Why do I want to do these things? What has made them important to me, even vital to me? Who am I, that my husband loves me and has stayed married to me for 47 years?

These are questions that today go unanswered in my mind. I have reached a place where I do not know who I am. These thoughts come to mind…. I am wife to my Sweet William, I am mom to Tommy & Kim, I am Mimi to 10 grandkids. Is that what defines me? Is that the gist of who I am… in my own heart? Wife, Mom, Mimi?!? I’m an author and a writer. I’m a child of God. I am a 63-year-old woman who loves deeply those in my world. I am a stubborn and strong-willed person who desires to accomplish much for the Kingdom of God. But that still is not the real me. Will the real Sharon please stand up. Yet, here I sit, contemplating, who really is this person I see in the mirror and how will I know when she really shows up? Will the real me please stand up!

I’m Not Listening! I’m Not Listening!

I’m Not Listening!

It is said, that our enemy, satan,  can only hurt us when we allow it by believing the lies he speaks.  But to believe something, we must first hear it, listen to it, and receive it as truth.  God‘s Word says that you shall know the truth and the truth shall “make” you free, and you shall be free indeed.

This is speaking to me, that “IF” I know the truth, it shall make me free.  Thus, the ball is in my court!  It’s up to me to take the steps to “Know” the truth.  If and when we know Gods truth, His Word, then we can easily recognize satan’s tactics and schemes.  Remember that he walks about seeking someone he may devour, someone with their guard down.  God’s Word says in John 8:32,  that …you shall know the truth, and the truth shall “Make” you free!  Why on earth would God “make” us free unless His intention was to keep us free.  Who the Son sets free is free indeed!!  Jesus paid the price that we could be free indeed!  God wants us free from fear!!

Isaiah 41:10  Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

2Timothy 1:7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Romans 8:15  For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

These are truths that you can stand on, get your teeth into.  But you must go after it with all your might.  Read it!  Quote it!  Memorize it!  Pray in agreement with, what Gods Word says you are and what you can have.  God wants us to wake up and walk in the Truth of His Word.  Arm ourselves with and put on the weapons of our warfare.  Hey!  He has given us everything we need to win against satan’s  scare tactics.  Put on the whole (entire) armour of God that you can stand!! Tell satan, NOPE… God told me in Isaiah 41:10 that I am to fear NOT.  God told me further in 2 Timothy 1:7 that He hasn’t given me a spirit of fear….BUT, He did give me power, love and a sound and stable mind.  And look at Romans 8:15, satan….It SAYS that I have NOT received a spirit of bondage again to fear…But my God has given to me and I now receive the Spirit of Adoption…and I cry out to Abba Father…or to my Daddy, God!!!  These belong to me, so, satan, shut up and stop lying to me, because I’m not listening!  I’m not listening! I’m not listening!   God’s plan is for us to live an overcoming life.  A life that is victorious over all the plots and schemes against us,  by our enemy, satan.  God desires to defend and love and protect us.  We must remember…he (satan) is also the enemy of God, and we are Gods people, and He loves us and wants the best for us.  It is up to us to arm ourselves with Gods armour and weapons.  They are outlined for us in Ephesians 6:11-18

Ephesians 6:11-18…. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

1Peter 5:8-9  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a
roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same
afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

I have read that lions roar loudly to strike fear in their prey…the roar paralyzes them with fear and then he strikes.  satan roars loudly…but I refuse to let it bring me to me knees in fear.  I say, I’m not listening!  I’m not listening! I’m not Listening!  But God is….. and He will step in and give us courage and boldness in His power!!!!

Taken from,[Jamieson, Fausett & Brown Commentary]   Be sober … vigilant — “Care,” that is, anxiety, will intoxicate the soul; therefore be sober, that is, self-restrained. Yet, lest this freedom from care should lead any to false security, he adds, “Be vigilant” against “your adversary.” Let this be your “care.” God provides, therefore do not be anxious. The devil seeks, therefore watch [Bengel].
